Most Anticipated Movies of 2015: Cannes Edition, part 1

This year's Cannes line-up seems absolutely amazing, so I thought I'd write down some of my thoughts about the films that interest me. Here goes Cannes Edition, part 1:

Tale of Tales (Il racconto dei racconti), directed by Matteo Garrone
(Italy, France, UK)

In Competition

It is loosely based on stories from the 17th-century fairytale collection The Tale of Tales, compiled by Giambattista Basile. Starring Salma Hayek, Vincent Cassel, John C. Reilly, Toby Jones

It really seems one of the most ambitious films of the selection. Shot on location in Italy, Director Garrone ventures into the realm of horror and fantasy in his English-languge debut. His earlier films were well received (winning Cannes Grand Prix for Gomorra in 2008 and Reality in 2012), so I'm looking forward to seeing the reception to his latest film, a project that is without a doubt his most experimental yet. It seems like a bizarre ode to fantasy and horror, a true joy to imagination, and it could be either genius or a disaster.
